Going with the flow

19 Nov

What is going with the flow? It’s rolling with the punches. It’s accepting change without getting angry or frustrated. It’s taking what life gives you, rather than trying to mould life to be exactly as you want it to be (Leo Babauta, zenhabits).

So this week the plan is to just go with the flow regardless of what happens. If s*** happens, just keep on smiling. If work becomes crazy busy, just go with the flow and not get stressed. It sounds hard and probably will be but this week I refuse to get stressed.

This morning I went swimming….again. It was a short session – only 1km, which included a 300m warm up (always the hardest part of the session I think), 10 x 50m using a pull buoy (yes Jen I am still using it!), followed by 4 x 50m kick/swim. A nice session really. But of course as luck would have it the grumpy woman was in my lane today. But I’m a wake up to her tactics now so she doesn’t bother me. However there was another woman in the lane who obviously has not encountered the grumpy woman who is definitely not a morning person. The woman was repeatedly ignored by the grumpy woman when asked whether she was going next off the wall. Eventually the grumpy woman said no, she wasn’t. When the other woman had swum off the grumpy one muttered, “I wouldn’t be standing here if I was going to swim”. Aaaah, so now we are supposed to be able to read her mind! However, as I said, I am familiar with her tactics and her mood and I stay right out of her way.

Tomorrow: the plan is to do weights before work, meet a good friend for lunch, and then do a short bike intervals session on the wind trainer after work. Oh, and there will be work in there among all that too!
