Today was a rest day. I decided that I needed some time out for myself so the alarm was turned off and it was back to sleep, to arise at a more sensible hour, to have my porridge (made with soy milk and eaten with toasted pepitas, sunflower seeds and walnuts…yummo), while reading the local paper.
Then later in the morning meeting up with running friends to celebrate a certain Lovely Liz’s milestone birthday. Well technically that doesn’t happen until early next week but she and her hubby will be in NZ having an awesome holiday by then. It was great to catch up with lots of familiar faces, and a couple of new ones, admire the amazing birthday cake, and have a good ol’ chitchat.
A relaxing Saturday – just what I needed.

Great to have you at my 50th Birthday Runners’ AM tea Cathy. I think we all love our running mates as much as our running
Agreed Liz. We’re a lovely bunch aren’t we!

Rest is so underrated by us runners! I took 2 days off after Tuesday, did a light session on Friday and knocked out a 67 second improvement at Parkrun today. Listen to your body, it really does know
I know – and, unusually for me, I listened today! Hopefully it does me well.

You’re the new rest guru J!
Next birthday I’ll have a shower after my run so I get a hug, like 2Fs.
Jealous Ewen. Like being hugged by a female with muscles.
I did notice Ruth has nice shouders & arms now. Has she upped the weights training to produce good results. Well done Ruth.
I’m sorry Ewen. I promise – next time you’ll get a hug too
