Oh dear, things are not looking good on the running front. I was to attempt some running again today – 60sec at a time. With a 90sec walking break between each one. Sounds simple enough. Sounds doable.
I braved the chilly, breezy, sleety weather this afternoon to give this a go. I started with a 10min walk, briskly I might add, as I was feeling cold. It really wasn’t an afternoon to be outdoors. The watch buzzed indicating my first 60sec jog was to start. I tried. I really did. Just a couple of steps. Nup. Wasn’t going to happen. Too painful. Run fail.
So instead I walked the first 60sec very briskly, slowing down slightly for the 90sec rest interval. Ok. Lets try again for the next 60sec. Just in case I wasn’t ready the first time. Ready. Set. Go……Nope. Run fail.
And so it continued 6 more times. No running happened. Just lots of brisk walking.
It’s now almost 13 weeks since the injury happened and I’ve made no progress. Correction. I had some improvement for a couple of weeks about a month ago now. But since then I’ve gone backwards instead of forwards. It’s a month until I see the sports specialist.
In the meantime…..I’ll keep on walking.
