I always saw myself as a runner. I ran half and full marathons. I ran events such as City to Surf, Six Foot Track marathon and the Women’s & Girls’ fun run. I ran.
Walking? Never! I’m an ambler. Everyone can walk faster than me. For a while, as a teenager, I was known as Speedy – not because I was fast but because I walked so slowly and it took me forever to get anywhere.
Why walk when I can run? That was my motto!
over two days I have walked 26km – 10km yesterday morning and 16km this afternoon. Wow! I’ve never walked that much in 2 days. Running yes. Walking no. Until now. And I have much more walking in store before the marathon. And let’s not even think about the marathon – thinking about walking 42km still does my head in.
Tonight my legs are tired. So tomorrow will be a rest day before I get back to training for the rest of the week. I walked a total of 40km this week though it should’ve been more except for a couple of unscheduled rest days. This week I hope to walk about 62km, including a 19km long walk on the weekend.
CJ a walker? Go figure!
