Good news

17 Jan

Good news from the Physio this afternoon. I can try an easy (she did place a lot of emphasis on ‘easy’) 5km run on the weekend and if all goes well, I can ease back into my training program.

“So no 30km run on Saturday?” says I with a straight face, adding that I was joking. “You’d be surprised how many runners seriously do ask that” was her response.

And yes, I have been guilty of that in the past. Give me an inch and I’ll take a mile was my way of thinking in the past. Now, however, I’m just trying to negotiate my way through my program to arrive at the starting line relatively unscathed on race day.

I ventured to the pool for another swim this morning, mixing it up with pull buoy, paddles and kick board as well as some freestyle without aids. I’m also planning on another swim tomorrow to round off the week.

It’s going to be a scorcher tomorrow (39 degrees celsius), which will be even hotter than today when it got to a maximum of 37 degrees Celsius.
